Fresh markets are a wonderful tradition in France. Incredible produce, meats, cheeses, condiments and more can be found there.

• Angers: Wednesday and Saturdays, 7-12:30 (near rail station)
• Challonnes: Tuesday (town square)
• Montjean: Thursday (town square)
• Ingrandes: Friday (town square)
• St Georges: Thursday (town square)

Spar market in Champtocé is a small grocery with an excellent butcher. The Spar is open Tuesday-Saturday 7-12:30, 3-7pm, Sunday 7-12:30. Butcher counter hours are limited and are posted.

Full service supermarkets (SUPER U) are located in nearby St. Georges, Ingrandes and La Pommeraye. Hours: 8am-7pm daily, closed Sundays.

Patisserie: France is noted for wonderful patisseries (bakeries). Fortin is an exceptional patisserie in Montjean, just over the bridge on the right. Closed Sundays and Mondays.

Most of France closes down at midday, generally from 12:30-3pm. So it is wise to plan your day with this in mind.
